Kiwanis donates to Boy Scouts - 11/18/2015

The Kiwanis Club of Lancaster showed it support for the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America. The club donated $570 to the council for underprivileged Boy Scouts in Fairfield County. Pictured are Shawn Dyer, left, from the Boy Scouts, and Carrie Woody of Kiwanis.

Members attended the Kiwanis Ohio District's 100-year celebration party in Beachwood recently. Tom Borror, a Medina club member, received the Albert and Iris Gilbert humanitarian award for his efforts feeding the needy in Medina and his volunteer work in Ecuador.

Kiwanis International hits milestone - 08/19/2015

During Kiwanis International’s centennial year, we’ve been celebrating the power of 100. But now that number represents more than just a look back at our past. Today, it became a big step forward.

Kiwanis International is pleased to announce that The Eliminate Project: Kiwanis eliminating maternal and neonatal tetanus has reached US$100 million in cash and pledges.

That means the Kiwanis family has saved or protected more than 55 million lives since 2010. And it leaves us just US$10 million away from our fundraising goal of US$110 million.

Kiwanis honors 4H youth with scholarships - 04/29/2015

The Kiwanis Club of Lancaster recently presented two 4-H members with scholarships.

Autumn Fickel was presented with the Dr. Glen Burns Scholarship. Fickel, the daughter of Scott Fickel and Jennifer Cooley, of Baltimore, has been involved in 4-H for nine years and has done projects in photography, creative writing, veterinary science, pygmy goats, and horses. She has been involved with the junior leadership club, county fairs, parades, 4-H camp, horse skillathon, judging clinics, Ohio 4-H Teen Conference, panorama, horse judgting team and demonstration, and summer judging. She has held numerous offices in her club, including president, in the Classic Equine 4-H Club.

Litzinger honored - 03/09/2015

At the Ohio District mid-year education day, Dan Litzinger, the past 10-s Lt Governor, received a Distinguished Lt. Governor award
for the 2013-2014 year. Dan was also recognized as the Ohio District outstanding Lt. Governor for the year. 

Kiwanis donates to area charities - 04/22/2014

The Kiwanis Club of Lancaster finalized three $500 donations to area organizations Wednesday.

One donation went to the Fox Family YMCA for the Partner with Youth program, which enables children to participate in programs or membership at the Y who couldn't otherwise afford to do so.

A second donation was to Big Brothers Big Sisters as an event sponsor for Bowl for Kids Sake, which takes place April 26-27 at Tiki Lanes in Lancaster. A second fundraiser is being held at Rule 3 in Pickerington May 3.

Finally, a $500 patron gift was donated to the Simon Kenton Council of the Boy Scouts of America, which is holding a banquet May 22.

Kiwanis presents 4-H scholarships - 04/07/2014

Club president Adam Custer and Secretary Mike McDevitt presented Kiwanis Club of Lancaster scholarships to two area students during the annual 4-H Achievement Banquet April 8.

Pictured are (from left) McDevitt, Molly Michael of Fairfield Dairy Pros, Rachel Stoneburner of Clearcreek Showmen and Tractor Maintenance, and Custer. Michael and Stoneburner earned $500 scholarships. The Kiwanis Club of Lancaster Scholarship fund is funded by Dr. and Mrs. Glenn Burns and William "Bill" White and administered by the Fairfield County Foundation.
